Ingredients

  • Barnyard millet (sanwak)180 g · 1 cup
  • Bengal gram dal45 g · 3 tb spoon
  • Onion big100 g · 1
  • Ginger fresh5 g · 1 small pc
  • Garlic big clove5 g · 4
  • Chillies green3 g · 2
  • Rice bran oil20 g · 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds1 g · 1/4 tsp
  • Black gram dal1.25 g · 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves2 g · 7-8
  • Coriander leaves5 g · 1 tb spoon

Method

  1. 1Soak barnyard millet grains for 15 minutes. Soak the bengal gram separately.
  2. 2Heat oil in a pressure cooker and splutter mustard seeds. Add split black gram, onion, ginger, garlic, green chillies, curry leaves and sauté.
  3. 3When the onion is translucent, add 2 cups of water to the mixture and boil. When the water boils, add the soaked millet and bengal gram and cook till two whistles and then remove from stove.
  4. 4Open when the steam has released and stir gently. Garnish with chopped coriander and serve.
