Ingredients
- Red gram dal60 g · 4 tbsp
- Black gram dal2.5 g · 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds2 g · 1 tsp
- Green chillies5 g · 1 tsp
- Curry leaves2 g · 1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves5 g · 1 tsp
- Groundnut oil5 g · 1 tsp
- Cho cho marrow (chayote)100 g · 1/2 cup cubes
Method
- 1Pressure cook the dal.
- 2Heat oil in pan. Temper with mustard and urad dal. When mustard splutters, add curry leaves and green chillies and stir.
- 3Add cut vegetables. Stir fry for a while. Add a little water and cook till soft.
- 4Add the dal and salt. Garnish with coriander leaves.
- 5Can be had with roti or rice.

- • Cho cho can be substituted with other low-potassium squashes like ridge gourd, bottle gourd, snake gourd.
- • All dals are high in potassium but they form an essential part of Indian diet.
- • Leaching is generally not advised; may be required in exceptional cases.
