Ingredients

  • Rice basmati180 g · 180 g
  • Groundnut15 g · 15 g
  • Black gram dal5 g · 5 g
  • Bengal gram dal5 g · 5 g
  • Sesame seed oil15 g · 15 g
  • Lemon juice5 g · 5 g
  • Mustard seeds (seasoning)1 g · 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal (seasoning)2 g · 1 tsp
  • Chana dal (seasoning)2 g · 1 tsp
  • Red chilli (seasoning)1 g · 1
  • Asafoetida (seasoning)0.5 g · a pinch
  • Green chillies (seasoning)5 g · 2
  • Turmeric powder (seasoning)1 g · 1/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves (seasoning)2 g · few

Method

  1. 1Cook rice with less water so the grains are separate. Spread on a plate and add 1 tsp of sesame seed oil so the grains don't stick. Mix well and set aside.
  2. 2Saute peanuts in 1/2 tsp oil until golden brown and keep aside.
  3. 3Heat oil, add mustard seeds; when they splutter, add urad dal, chana dal, red chillies and asafoetida. When dal becomes aromatic and turns golden brown, add green chillies, turmeric powder, curry leaves.
  4. 4Squeeze lemon juice in a cup and add to the rice.
  5. 5Add the rice to the seasoning and mix well.
  6. 6Serve hot if less salt is added.
