Ingredients
- Wheat semolina (medium suji)200 g · 1 cup
- Onion200 g · 2 big
- Capsicum green50 g · 1/2 big
- Green chillies10 g · 2
- Coriander leaves (finely chopped)30 g · 2 tbsp
- Lemon juice10 g · 2 tsp
- Groundnut oil20 g · 4 tsp
- Mustard seeds2 g · 1/2 tsp
- Black gram dal3 g · 1/2 tsp
- Bengal gram dal5 g · 1 tsp
- Curry leaves5 g · 4 to 5 leaves
- Turmeric powder2 g · 1/4 tsp
- Water600 g · 3 cups
Method
- 1Boil 600 ml (3 cups) of water in a pan. In another heated heavy-bottom pan, dry roast semolina lightly and keep aside.
- 2Heat the same pan and add oil. Add tempering ingredients in this order: mustard seeds, channa dal, urad dal, turmeric powder, curry leaves.
- 3Once mustard seeds splutter, add all chopped vegetables, green chillies, fresh coriander and fry for 5 minutes till vegetables become slightly tender.
- 4Add salt and the boiling water.
- 5Add semolina to the boiling water, slowly stirring continuously.
- 6Cook the mixture till water evaporates.
- 7Once water evaporates, add lemon juice and mix well. Cover for 5 minutes and serve hot.
